Kitchen Atelier
The heart of a 1970s Ghent home, rewritten
// Before → After
The transformation

A closed, dark 1970s kitchen opened up to the garden with fluted oak joinery and a travertine island.
The family cooked in the darkest room of the house. We widened the garden opening with a single steel lintel, lowered the sill and turned the kitchen into the brightest space in the home.
Fluted oak cabinetry hides the appliances, a monolithic travertine island becomes the table for everything, and brushed brass details catch the evening sun.
